1. Assessor's Office

    Duties of an Assessor include researching and maintaining essential statistics on all town property, updating and computer-entering parcel and building inventory data, updating the digital photo and sketching databases, recording all property sales/deed transfers, performing market studies and research, as well as responding to taxpayer inquiries.

  2. Building Department

    The Building Department issues necessary permits for new construction, alterations, additions, and renovations, as well as grants Certificates of Occupancy. The Department also issues plumbing, electrical, and mechanical heating permits as mandated by the State of New York.

  3. Clerk's Department

    The Clerk’s office has served as the official ‘Keeper of the Records’ for the Town of Scarsdale since 1701, and the Village of Scarsdale since the Village's incorporation date of 1915. The Clerk is responsible for maintaining all Town and Village Board records, and attending and taking minutes of the Village and Town Board meetings.

  4. Court

    The Village Court has jurisdiction over crimes committed within Scarsdale – partial jurisdiction for felonies and complete jurisdiction over misdemeanors, traffic, parking and Village Code Violations.

  5. Fire Department

    The Scarsdale Fire Department is a combination department in Westchester County, New York, consisting of 46 career members and approximately 50 volunteers.

  6. Human Resources Department

    The Department of Human Resources is charged with handling two functions, Personnel Administration and Risk Management.

  7. Village Manager's Office

    The Village Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Village. Under the direction of the Mayor and Trustees, this position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Village such as planning, organizing, staffing, coordinating, budgeting, and evaluating all local government activities.

  8. Parks, Recreation & Conservation

  9. Planning Department

    The Planning Department provides staff support to the Zoning Board of Appeals and to the Planning Board. The Village Planner is also the Village Environmental Review Officer, and oversees Village implementation of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA).

  10. Police Department

    The Scarsdale Police Department is a state and nationally accredited and proudly serving the community since 1909. The department is organized into four sections: Administrative, Patrol, Investigations, and Support. It is staffed by 71 employees, including 45 sworn police officers, six civilian personnel, and 20 part-time staff such as school crossing guards and parking enforcement officers.

  11. Public Works

    The Public Works department is comprised of six departments: Administration, Central Garage, Engineering, Facilities, and Highway and Sanitation.

  12. Treasurer

    The Village Treasurer serves as chief fiscal officer of the Village, collector of taxes for the town, and administrator of all matters relating to finance, including the Village budget. The Village Treasurer handles the investment of Village funds, as well as the periodic issuance of debt (bonds and notes). The Village of Scarsdale is rated Aaa by Moody's.

    The Water Department's three divisions are Administration, Pumping and Distribution.

    New York State requires all dogs older than four months to be licensed.

  9. Film Permit

    A permit is required for any commercial or educational filming on public property within the Village of Scarsdale.

    An operating permit is required before conducting certain activities or operating certain buildings that may pose a potential hazard to public safety.
