Budget Discussions Continue at January 13 Work Session

The Village Board of Trustees and Village Staff continued discussing the next budget for Fiscal Year 2027 at a Work Session on Tuesday, January 13. Meeting materials from the first pass budget, including a budget memo, tax cap and tax rate details, capital requests by department and capital requests by funding source, can be found here. The Parks, Recreation and Conservation department presentation, which included a budget presentation and Mamaroneck Road traffic and parking study can be found here.

Upcoming budget work sessions are scheduled for January 20, 22, and 27 at 5 p.m. in Village Hall.

Scarsdale Foundation Announces 2026 Scarsdale Bowl Winner

Terri Simon has been named the 2026 recipient of the Scarsdale Bowl, and the Scarsdale Historical Society will be receiving the Spotlight Award. Both honorees will be celebrated at the Bowl Dinner on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026. 

Scarsdale Mayor Justin Arest said, “Terri Simon truly embodies the best of Scarsdale. Her years of service on the Board of Education and the Library Board of Trustees reflect a deep and enduring commitment to our community. She played a pivotal role in shaping and securing approval for our new library, and I was fortunate to work alongside her throughout that process. I greatly valued her thoughtfulness, perseverance, and collaborative spirit, which made a lasting difference."

Mayor Arest notes, “The Scarsdale Historical Society’s educational work is vital to preserving our shared story and helping residents understand the roots of our community. History matters deeply in Scarsdale, and I am sincerely grateful for all that the Historical Society does to keep that history alive. I look forward to working together as we mark America’s 250th birthday and celebrate Scarsdale’s 325th anniversary.”

ICYMI: Volunteer Opportunities on Boards, Councils and Committees

The Personnel Committee of the Village Board of Trustees invites residents who are interested in serving on Village Boards, Councils, and Committees to submit their names for consideration. The Village seeks candidates who bring a broad range of experiences and perspectives. New terms will begin on April 6.

Applications must be submitted on or before February 13. Applications may be submitted online  or by mailing or hand-delivering a printed application addressed to Attn: Trustee Kofman, Village Hall, 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583. Scarsdale residents may recommend individuals for consideration or seek additional information by contacting Trustee Kofman at jkofman@scarsdale.gov or Deputy Mayor Gruenberg at dgruenberg@scarsdale.gov.

Tax deadline

Second Installment of School Taxes Due January 31

The second installment of school tax bill payments are due January 31. You can pay your bill directly to the Village of Scarsdale online here. For a list of dates and guidelines for paying Village, School and Westchester County taxes, click here. Sign up here to receive tax receipts, bills and reminders via email.

RECREATION SPOTLIGHT
Registration Open for 56th Annual 15K/4-Mile Races

The Scarsdale Recreation Department’s Annual 15K and 4-mile Races are back for the 56th year! Join us on Sunday, March 22 for either the 4-mile race at 9:15 a.m. or the 15K race at 9:30 a.m. Visit the race website and register online here. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome!

Early bird registration ($30 plus processing fees) ends February 15, while regular registration ($45 plus fees) ends March 22.

Participants will set out from Scarsdale High School through Fox Meadow and Greenacres before returning to SHS to finish on the track. Virtual 15K and 4-mile races are also available for those who cannot or do not wish to participate in person.

Vine cutting

VILLAGE SPOTLIGHT
Volunteers Needed: Invasive Vine Cutting at Red Maple Swamp

The Scarsdale Vine Cutters will be cutting invasive vines this Sunday, January 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Red Maple Swamp. Dress appropriately for the weather and the activity. 

RSVP to elaine.weir.sherman@gmail.com to confirm attendance. The event will be canceled in case of rain or snow.
