VILLAGE SPOTLIGHT
Budget Public Hearing Set for April 14 Meeting

A public hearing on the FY2026-2027 Tentative Budget budget is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, at 8 p.m. at Village Hall. Residents who wish to comment on the budget may do so in person or on Zoom during the April 14 meeting.

The process and details of creating the budget are summarized in a four-page letter by the Village Manager featured at the beginning of the budget document. You can watch the work session and business meeting videos here.

SAFETY SPOTLIGHT
Beware of Phishing Scam Impersonating Land Use Board Members

The Village has identified a phishing scam impersonating Land Use Board members. These spam emails have been sent using fake email addresses, attempting to deceive residents and applicants into making payments. Please be advised that official Village communications will only come from verified Village email addresses ending in @scarsdale.gov.

Residents are encouraged to exercise caution and not respond to or engage with suspicious messages claiming to represent the Planning Board, Zoning Board, or any other land use staff member. Residents are advised not to respond to any suspicious emails asking for payment. 

If you believe you may have received a suspicious email regarding a land use application payment, please contact the Planning Department at 914-722-1131.

County Tax Bills Due April 30

County Tax Bills were sent out on April 1 and are due Thursday April 30. Residents can pay tax bills online here.

Real Property Tax Exemption Application Deadline May 1  

The Office of Scarsdale Assessor Victoria Sirota would like to remind residents that the deadline to submit New and Renewal applications from Real Estate Taxes is Friday, May 1. State and local laws provide for the partial exemption of real estate taxes in certain categories to qualifying individuals only. Invasive Vine Cutting Will be Held Sunday, April 12

The Scarsdale Vine Cutters will be back at it on Sunday, April 12, from 1 to 3 p.m., to cut vines at George Field Park at 1218 Post Road. (Park on Glendale Road and walk over the foot bridge towards Post Road.) 

RSVP to Elaine Weir at elaine.weir.sherman@gmail.com. Dress appropriately for the weather and the activity. Wear long sleeves and gloves, durable boots and safety goggles. Bring loppers or pruning sheers if you have them. Vine cutting only happens in good weather, which is why an RSVP is important.

Village Memorial Day Parade Children’s Float Competition

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the 325th anniversary of Scarsdale, the Village will be holding a Children’s Float Competition at the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25.

  • Float themes must honor the observance of Memorial Day or be patriotic in nature.
  • Floats may not be motorized or attached to a motor vehicle in any way. Floats must be pulled by hand.

Blood drive

Blood Drive at Scarsdale Public Library April 17

A blood drive will be held Friday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Scott Room of the Scarsdale Public Library. The New York Blood Center will be on hand to run this important event. As a blood donor with New York Blood Center, you join a community of people working together to save lives. Your donation directly supports patients in local hospitals and strengthens our region’s blood supply. Walk-ins are possible, but registration is strongly recommended. Sign up here.

SAFETY SPOTLIGHT
Drive-thru Prescription Drug Take Back Event on April 25

Scarsdale Action for Youth (SAY) and the Scarsdale Police Department are teaming up for a Prescription Drug Take Back event on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Scarsdale Public Safety Building. This drive-thru event, which does not require parking, will allow residents to safely dispose of unused and expired medications. 

Items accepted include prescription medications, prescription patches, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, samples and pet medications. Items not accepted include sharps/needles, inhalers, lotions, liquids, ointments, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans and thermometers. Visit www.SAYscarsdale.org for more information.

Register Now for Pickleball Programs

It’s not too late to register for the many pickleball programs offered by the Village of Scarsdale Recreation Department. There are spring clinics, round robins and special events beginning this week. Visit scarsdale.gov/catalog for more information and to register.

Weinberg Nature Center Programs: Petting Zoo, Afterschool Nature

The Weinberg Nature Center will host a petting zoo on Saturday, April 11, from 3 to 4 p.m. This will be a hands-on, family-friendly program and participants will interact with a kangaroo, a pig, sheep, goats, tortoises, chickens, ducks and a snake, and safely observe an alligator with Two By Two Animal Haven Inc. The Forest Adventures Afterschool Nature Program (outdoors) began this week for ages 2-5 accompanied by an adult from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays through June 3 (no class May 27). Participants will advance their nature knowledge through hiking, planting vegetables and flowers, storytelling, interacting with animals, learning animal sign language and animal tracking.
